Jean Colin (1881-1961)
Born in 1881 in Brussels, Belgium, Colin studied painting and engraving at the Académie de Bruxelles under Isidore Verheyden. He won the coveted "Prix de Rome" in 1910. Colin lived and perfected his artistic style in Italy and Algeria before returning to Belgium where he worked as a painter in impressionistic style and executed a series of posters for AIR FRANCE. He also tutored Bernard Villemot who became one of the great poster designers in his own right. Colin passed on 1961 in Saint Josse ten Node. His work is highly collectible.
