This print of original artwork painted by artist Kerne Erickson, depicts the road and vistas seen while driving into the Ballard Canyon AVA from Los Olivos. Ballard Canyon's location exposes it to higher temperatures during the day and cooler temps at night than its neighboring areas, producing desirably high levels of sugar and acid in grapes because the daytime heat increases sugar production and the night time cooling reduces acid loss. The soil is sand clay loam and well drained. The wineries in the Ballard Canyon AVA are: Rusack Vineyards, Stolpman Vineyards and Larner Vineyard & Winery.
